Secret Desires

"Secret Desires"

By LeSage Chavannes

He remembers the furtive glance

taken the first day they met.

Her eyes held him in a trance.

His palms became damp with sweat.

She looked at him reluctantly,

And his world just seemed to melt away.
Her endearing smile and beauty,

Left him reeling; in emotional disarray.

Looking into her beautiful eyes,

He had never experienced such a treat.

Oh, how they sparkle and mesmerize.

Leaving him breathless in the proverbial hot seat.

She dazzles him with her smile.

He thinks, “Her parted lips arouse and weaken me.”

When she parts ways for just a while,

The moment passes as an eternity.

As they speak, a memory returns

That the greatest of men are tested by fire.

In secret, he daydreams and yearns

of goals to which a select few could ever aspire.

Dare he dream of holding her near?

Why does she stimulate his very being?

Yet one thing is abundantly clear,

this feeling is strong and unrelenting.

Her voice washes over him.

He appears calm but his mind is in a spin.

He feigns to stare at the decorative trim;

Yet she holds him captive in unsullied sin.

He looks at her in the dimmed café light,

His emotions worn proudly about his sleeve.

Holding her hand is sheer delight,

He is smitten in the cool winter eve.
